Ducted air conditioning is a worthwhile investment adding to the value and comfort of a home or office in a warm climate. While a split system or box unit can maintain the temperature of a smaller space within a home, a ducted air con system allows you to control the temperature of each room in an entire house. While neglecting a ducted air conditioning unit may not cause an immediate break down, it will increase running costs, reduce the positive air flow through the system, cause health problems for your family and even shorten the lifespan of the system by having to work too hard to suck the air through the return air filter if it is all blocked up.
As the ducted system is spread across the home it may not always be evident that the unit needs a service or a clean. While most dust and dirt build up comes from outdoor dust that has been tracked through the home; pet fur, skin cells, carpets, clothing and hair shedding can also add to the build-up of dirt in the ducted system. Filters can become clogged with dust and dirt which means your unit is working harder to blow cool or warm air into the room. This will result in increased power consumption costing you more when you receive your bill. In addition, uncleaned filters also mean that the air being blown out of the system is not as fresh as it could be which may result in illness particularly for individuals who suffer from hay fever, asthma or other flu like symptoms.
